Mitzvah Day Activities - SUNDAY, MAY 6
Sunday, May 06, 2012 9:30 AMSUNDAY, MAY 6 at 10 am David Rose, a long-time member of the ZAKA Rescue and Recovery Organization, as well as active ZAKA search-and-rescue volunteer, will discuss the work of this amazing organization and explain its current fundraising effort – to purchase a new $132,000 ambulance in Beer
Sheva to replace the 10-year-old workhorse that needs to be “put out to pasture.” ZAKA, which is the Hebrew acronym for Disaster Victim Identification, was founded in 1995. It is Israel’s dominant non-governmental lifesaving, rescue and recovery organization, with over 1500 volunteers, 34 ambulances and 162 motorcycles deployed around the country, on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to respond to any terror attack, disaster or accident immediately and
professionally. ZAKA also sends highly trained volunteers to assist in international disasters, working in conjunction with other emergency personnel.
Due to David’s efforts within the organization, ZAKA achieved official recognition in 2005 by the United Nations as an international humanitarian organization.
Please plan to attend this intense and exciting presentation. ZAKA shows the world the face of Israel as humanitarian, nondiscriminatory, compassionate and selfless responder to disasters and tragedies everywhere. It needs our help to continue to cultivate this reputation.
