TEMPLE EMANU-EL’S READING ROOM

“We are the People of the Book--and books” -RCB

The Reading Room is going through a process of making books more accessible to Temple members. Rochelle Burns, Susan Silverman, and Sue Weingott have cleaned every book in our collection, and scrubbed all of the shelves and window alcoves (using vinegar, a non-toxic, anti-bacterial, all-natural cleaning alternative).  The Reading Room looks great!

Now, we need your help as we grow our Temple’s book collection.  If you are downsizing or know of people who are, and wondering what to do with all those books, consider donating them to the Temple.

Donated books must be:

  • In pristine condition
  • Hardcover or softcover books only (no paperbacks)
  • Jewish content, such as: novels with a Jewish theme, modern Israel, ancient Israel, Jewish religion and culture, Holocaust, Canadian Jewish history, Jewish books for children and teens
    • Please note: we cannot accept any books that contain sacred text, such as siddurim, machzorim and haggadot (prayer books), chumashim or Tanakhim (Torah text), or books related to learning Hebrew

If you have books you are interested in donating, please fill out the form below.  A volunteer will review your submission and will be in touch with you about which titles can be accepted and when they can be dropped off at the Temple.  We apologize that we cannot accept all book titles submitted for donation.

Please list all of the book titles (with author names) you are interested in donating.
