UJA 52 Weeks Food Drive
Community Food Share
FOOD DRIVE
Food insecurity is an urgent, ongoing crisis in Jewish Toronto. Thousands are struggling to afford groceries or going days without enough to eat. Last year, there were 2 million visits to local food banks — an all-time high.
This Community Food Share is an innovative program designed to combat hunger for one full year – one week at a time. The goal is to make nutritious kosher food and other essentials accessible to those who need it most.
Temple Emanu-El is proud to be taking responsibility for one week of the program by hosting a food drive. Our goal is to raise a minimum of 1,000 lbs. of healthy kosher food, and household essentials, which is approximately 2,000 non-perishable items. Will you help us reach our goal?
Please consider donating unopened, not expired (within 6 months of the expiry date), kosher, non-perishable food, or household supplies.
The drop off location is: Temple Emanu-El Front Hall - Food Bin
The drop-off date is: ASAP! Our building is open during synagogue office hours (9:30 am - 4:00 pm) and for services and events.
MOST NEEDED ITEMS:
- Grains, dried legumes, cereal, pasta, rice, oats, sugar, salt, oils, and flour
- Canned fish and meat, powdered eggs, powdered milk, peanut, and other nut butters
- Canned or freeze-dried fruits and vegetables
- Children’s snacks
- Dish soap, laundry soap, bar soap
- Toilet paper, paper towel
All of the donations will be distributed to one of UJA’s community partner food banks around the GTA.
All food items must be strictly kosher. Here is a list of kosher symbols to look out for on the food packaging:
Thank you so much for helping to support our community.
