Thank you to all who filled our 5785/2024 High Holy Days with meaningful prayer, beautiful music, and the power of community. This page will be updated in the summer of 2025 with information for the 5786/2025 High Holy Days.

We look forward to days of reflection and celebration with our Temple Emanu-El family.  Everything you need to know about participating in our High Holy Day services and programs can be found here.  Any important last-minute information or late-breaking developments will be posted at the top of this page.

How Do I Participate?

 

Members: You're good to go! No tickets. Just come!

New this year: Temple Emanu-El members do NOT have to register for anything (except babysitting)! Members in good standing are welcome to attend all of our High Holy Day services and programs.

Babysitting (for children up to age 5): Register HERE.

Membership Renewal: If you haven't yet renewed your membership, please do so right away. Your membership contribution helps us to build our Temple Emanu-El family and to keep our community strong. Annual commitment forms for 2024-25 were emailed in July from our Executive Director, Irena Kochba. If you did not receive your form, please check your spam/junk folder. If you still can't find it, please contact our Bookkeeper,  Ilona Meron, at ilona@templeemanuel.ca. If you have questions about the content of your annual commitment, please email Executive Director, Irena Kochba at: exec@templeemanuel.ca
If you are sending an Etransfer, please send it to payments@templeemanuel.ca.

 

Guests: Registration required.

We welcome your family and friends to join us online or in person. Guests are required to register using the link under "General High Holy Day Guest Registration" below, unless they are only joining us for our free family services (registration for family services is below as well).

  • General High Holy Day Guest Registration requires a minimum donation for each guest 13 yrs and older. Registration for guest children age 12 and under is also found on this form.  Guest registration is now closed.
  • Family Services do not require a donation. If you will ONLY be attending our free family services, you can register at these links:

High Holy Day Schedule

General Information:


 Guests, please make sure you are registered (using the links above) before the deadline of Tuesday, October 1st.
Members in good standing are welcome at any or all of our services and programs and do not need to register. 
• All services will be indoors at Temple Emanu-El unless noted.
• All services will be hybrid (in-person and Zoom) unless noted.
• All members and registered guests will receive a personal Zoom link for online services, even if you intend to join in-person (in case you feel unwell on the day of the service or your plans change). Please DO NOT SHARE this personal link. If your unique link is being used by someone else, you will not be able to access our online services.
Note that your one personal Zoom link will provide you with access to ALL of our online services
• Bring the kids! "Busy Bags" for children will be available for pickup in the lobby on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur mornings.

EREV ROSH HASHANAH • Wednesday, Oct. 2

  • Erev Rosh Hashanah Zoom • 6:00 - 6:30 pm  • More info HERE.
    Bring your apples and honey and join us on Zoom for candlelighting as we welcome the New Year together. 

 

ROSH HASHANAH DAY 1 • Thursday, Oct. 3

  • Rosh Hashanah Family Service 9:00 am • More info & registration HERE.
    FREE! All are welcome. Join Rabbi Debra Landsberg and Cantor Judy Adelman Gershon as we celebrate the birthday of the world.
     
  •  Rosh Hashanah Day 1 Service • 10:00 am • More info HERE.
    Includes Children's Program (6-12), Babysitting available (REGISTER)

  •  Tashlich • Immediately following the service.
    Please meet in the lobby if you would like to participate in a short, meaningful Tashlich ceremony, outside the synagogue.

 

ROSH HASHANAH DAY 2 • Friday, Oct. 4

KOL NIDRE • Friday, Oct. 11

  • Kol Nidre Service • 8:00 pm • More info HERE.

YOM KIPPUR • Saturday, Oct.12

  • Yom Kippur Family Service 9:00 am • More info & registration HERE.
    FREE! All are welcome! Join Rabbi Debra Landsberg and Cantor Judy Adelman Gershon for a special family-friendly Yom Kippur observance with music, storytelling and participation.
     
  • Yom Kippur Morning •  10:00 am • More info HERE.

  • Music & Meditation • 12:45 pm
  • Martyrdom from the Machzor to October 7 • Afternoon Service & Study • 3:00 pm
  • Yizkor / N'ilah Service • 5:00 pm
    No Children's Program or Babysitting
  • Break Fast • Immediately Following Services
