Bassam Aramin is Palestinian and Rami Elhanan is Israeli. They inhabit a world of conflict that colours every aspect of their lives. Their lives are upended one after the other: Rami's daughter becomes the victim of suicide bombers and a decade later, Bassam's daughter is killed by a rubber bullet. Rami and Bassam have been raised to hate one another but when they learn of each other's stories, they recognize the loss that connects them. Together, they attempt to use their grief as a weapon for peace and with their one small act, start to permeate what has for generations been an impermeable conflict.
Cathy Tile worked in the Toronto and York Region Boards of Education. She is one of the founders of the Living Lecture Series and is co-author of the book Toronto's Cook's Marketplace. Cathy has worked tirelessly for CAMH, UJA Youth Leadership and initiated the establishment of the Jewish Information Service and Tel Aide.
