Workshop Description

“The world is made of stories, not atoms,” wrote Muriel Rukeyzer, and by the time we’ve lived a few decades, we all have a lot of stories to tell.

In this six-session workshop, we’ll look at our lives from a fresh perspective as we turn our own facts into short fiction in a variety of genres. (Was your first date a horror story or a fairy tale? Was your job search a mythic quest?) Let’s see what we come up with when we use the tools of the creative writer to re-envision our experience.

Bring a spirit of adventure and a sense of fun, and we’ll rewrite history!
 

Jean Sheppard • Writer, Educator, Coach

For over two decades, Jean taught English, drama, and media studies at Havergal College in Toronto. She earned an MEd from the University of Toronto and an MFA in creative writing from the University of British Columbia, and she also trained as a life coach with Adler Learning in Toronto and the Professional Retirement Coach Association based in Michigan. She delights in working with people of all ages to help them see the creative possibilities life offers.
