Youth Programming

Junior Youth Group - Grades 6  to 8

Our Junior Youth Group (JYG) is open to teens in grades 6-8. JYG events are typically after class on Sundays, often from 12:30-3.  JYG is a great way for kids to connect with each other outside the classroom and participate in both formal and informal learning. The JYG hosts events such as laser tag, trampolining, bowling, shul-ins, movie nights and so much more.

Madrichim Program – Grades 8 to 12

The Madrichim (mentoring) Program is designed for our teens to work in our Sunday Lomdim program. Students are each assigned to a class, where they assist the teachers and the students with anything they might need.  Shadowing a student, setting up a lesson, taking attendance, helping students with Hebrew or educational lessons are just some of the tasks our Madrichim may be given.  Ideally, we prefer a weekly commitment from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm; however we are open to a flexible schedule, so you don’t have commit to every Sunday necessarily. We are always in need of help in the classrooms and love for our teens to be involved! Students who volunteer can also get community service hours.

Senior Youth Group - Grades 9  to 12

FEISTEY (Federation of Educated, Independent, Senior Temple Emanu-El Youth) is our senior youth group ranging from Grades 9-12. Our youth group has a rich history, providing teens with a welcoming environment that cultivates leadership. FEISTEY  has been a well established and respected organization.

FEISTEY’s primary goals are to establish an open community where youth members of Temple Emanu-El can get together in order to make new friends, perform mitzvot and tikkun olam, give teens a place to be leaders and most importantly, to have fun!

What is NFTY?

As North America’s Reform Jewish Youth movement, NFTY strives to provide meaningful and engaging youth experiences for teens.

We hope that our teens participate in both FEISTEY and NFTY. As a NFTYite, you have the opportunity to connect with Reform Jewish teens from across both the Northeast Lakes region, as well as all of North America. Whether you have a passion for Jewish learning, social action, theater, sports or all of the above, NFTY can serve as an outlet for you to express your creativity and become a leader in a fun and thought-provoking atmosphere. As a part of the Northeast Lakes region, you can create your own NFTY experience, catered towards your interests and skillset. We hope you take advantage of all that NFTY has to offer and look forward to seeing you at their events!
